scenestuff.com: back online

24 February, 2004 (20:49) | Work/Degap/Scenestuff.com | By: Frank Michlick

Scenestuff.com is back online and the new shipment of the Mindcandy demoscene DVD
should be in next week. I am also considering offering the Assembly 2003
DVD-ROM, but the Euro exchange rate is rather high at the moment and
they have a minimum order requirement, which seems a little high for
me, too. I still have quite a few of the Assembly 2002 DVD-ROMs sitteing around.

So while I was putting the site up again I upgraded SquirrelCart (the
software I am currently using) twice. Still there is no way in it to
split provincial and country-wide taxes, but I can live with that. I
even managed to set up some shipping rules that should work out fine,
even though it’s not as granular as it could be (Canada Post now also
does online rate quotes through an API).

If I wanted to open up the store to the US and possibly other
countries, I would not quite be so sure as how to set up the shipping
rules to adequately reflect my cost… However I have to admit, that I
can’t think a good solution, other than itengrating the online-quote
mechanism… But then, how do you estimate weight and size of the
packaging material.
