Another Mattamy buyer blog / updates
Through a comment in my blog I found Rick’s “Mattamy Homes in Hawthorne Village, Milton” blog.
One of his questions is with regards to the contract,
and if it should be reviewed by a lawyer. I think you should actually
consider having it reviewed by a lawyer, but also review it yourself.
We were able to make a few small changes to it (i.e. capping the cost
for the driveway, tree etc. at a fixed limit) but nothing out of the
ordinary. For new homes, it is is still a seller’s market, so the
seller dictates most of the conditions.
After we returned from our vacation I called Mattamy about them rolling
our grass again, since this was not quite completed when the grass was
layed. They promised it for sometime in the first two weeks of May, so
let’s see. I also asked them to fix the scratches and marks on the
walkway. We also now got a tree in our front yard, nice.
Yesterday one of our neighbours in the back talked to us about fencing, he is going to share his quotes with us.
The one year inspection is coming up and there’s still a few old open
issues that I need Mattamy to re-address, so this is going to be a busy
time. We are also going to hire a professional inspector to make sure
nothing is wrong structually.
