No final inspection for gas installation

19 January, 2005 (20:58) | Live/House | By: Frank Michlick

While I was just on the phone with Union Gas in order to get our security deposit applied as a credit to our account, they informed me that our builder (Mattamy) never had the gas installation in the house inspected.

I guess is similar to the final occupancy inspection, which also took place six months after we had already moved in.

Well now once again I need to figure out a time when I will be home
during the day (and of course their time frames are 4 hour windows) in
order to have the gas installation inspected. I should ask the builder
for compensation for the lost time. I wonder if there’s some other
hidden surprises like that to be expected from Oakville Hydro.

Permanent street sign: Mattamy is late

Follow up to:
i@m.fm (Frank Michlick) :: Permanent street sign: Mattamy is late

Before I forget: Mattamy had finally installed the new street sign. But
first there was a spelling (spacing) mistake on it, which has been
corrected by now.

Maybe one day they will also straighten the street lights etc… Don’t
forget, when you buy a new home you live on a building site for a
couple of years :(

Movie Review: Shark Tale

14 January, 2005 (15:43) | Play | By: Frank Michlick

This was one of the movies we watched over the holidays – and we
enjoyed it. This is good entertainment if you want to escape from our
reality.

The graphics and effects are just great in the movie and so is the
humour. The fish resemble the actors and fit very well with their
voices and there are some hidden jokes in there as well. Don’t expect
any references to any political issues or so… I enjoyed watching it.

Google keeps the user in mind

… and changes their advertising policies for affiliates. Basically
they will now have to create an additional landing page instead of
redirecting the user directly to eBay, for example.

The additional effort of creating a landing page will most likely cut
out some of the part time affiliate advertisers, while some of the
larger ones will stick around – possibly automating the creation of the
landing pages.

However the landing pages could also be a source for additional
information and comparison to related prodcuts, in this case it might
turn out to be a win/win. In general Google and the end user will
benefit from higher quality advertising, if this is what this change
will bring.

The next question is if/how it will affect the actual commission/sales numbers of the affiliates.

Font screw-up?

6 January, 2005 (16:13) | Main Page | By: Frank Michlick

Looks like something scr*wed up the font settings on some of my posts
below – I guess one of the few curses that come with the use of a
comfortable richt text editor. Maybe eventually I will figure out what
went wrong.

Tulip computers sells Commodore brand (catch-up)

6 January, 2005 (16:11) | Play/DemoScene/c64 | By: Frank Michlick

As you can tell I am still catching up ;-)

It was reported all over the place – Tulip computers announced their intention to sell the Commodore brand.

Tulip press release: TULIP COMPUTERS SELLS COMMODORE TO YEAHRONIMO MEDIA VENTURES INC.

Yeahronimo press release: TULIP Computers sells Commodore to YMV Inc.

Once more this poses the question about the future of the brand and how
endagered sites are that use the name. Also there is no word what
happenes to the exclusive license Tulip Computers granted to Ironstone Partners Ltd.
