While I was just on the phone with Union Gas in order to get our security deposit applied as a credit to our account, they informed me that our builder (Mattamy) never had the gas installation in the house inspected.
I guess is similar to the final occupancy inspection, which also took place six months after we had already moved in.
Well now once again I need to figure out a time when I will be home
during the day (and of course their time frames are 4 hour windows) in
order to have the gas installation inspected. I should ask the builder
for compensation for the lost time. I wonder if there's some other
hidden surprises like that to be expected from Oakville Hydro.

Frank, doesn't surprise me however I'm not sure how the house can close without the inspection actually on file at the city. Then again having an inspection filed doesn't really mean much when they don't seem to do the inspection in the first place but file papers like they have. I've commented about this on my Mattamy comment thread before here.
I'm going to add a comment linking to your post here so that people can find it from my Mattamy comment thread. Re: Re: No final inspection for gas installation

Thanks for the info, Tim.
As per the link in my article our 'final occupancy inspection' was also 6 months after we moved into the house. And I also noticed that the inspector mainly focussed on caulking up the garage walls and stuffing insulation in the basement around the places where the pipes go up. Trackbacks
