Dutch academics declare research free-for-all
Scientists from all major Dutch universities officially launched a website
on Tuesday where all their research material can be accessed for free.
Interested parties can get hold of a total of 47,000 digital documents
from 16 institutions the Digital Academic Repositories. No other nation
in the world offers such easy access to its complete academic research
output in digital form, the researchers claim. Obviously, commercial
publishers are not amused.
Great. Giving free access to research information could speed up progress. I love it! [via The Register]

As always I am running a little behind (this was published 6 days ago):
Americans are pants at password security | The Register Americans are just as blasé
about password security as the Brits, according to a new survey. Two
out three three people (180 of 272) approached in a downtown San
Francisco street by researchers were happy to provide their password in
exchange for a coffee gift card. Of those respondents that declined
offering their actual password, 51 provided a clue about their password
in exchange for a $3 Starbucks gift voucher.
I wonder how many people couldn't actually tell them the password because they have it saved on their computer - not a very secure alternative.Wednesday, May 11

Nokia - Nokia Sensor
Meet other Bluetooth enabled users in your surroundings, if they are using a Nokia phone with Nokia Sensor. Note how the people in the Nokia demonstration constantly use their phone while it seems that they are with other people? ;-) Monday, May 2

ICANNWatch | China announces 3 new TLDs
Apparently the Chinese government has invented their own TLDs without any involvement of ICANN. Another Namespace? Maybe the Chinese government is going to enhance their huge Intranet with the help of those TLDs, maybe this will be a new New.NET. Interesting, let's see where this goes. [via Free2Innovate.net]
